Wounds into Wisdom

The second book in the Backstretch series, Wounds into Wisdom, should be approved and available tomorrow, May 12, 2017 on Amazon. The paperback version should be available not long after that. We shall see. They make it pretty hard to do, but I’m trying. 🙂

“I couldn’t put it down!”

“…I had to find out what happened next!”

Set in 1969, in this parallel sequel to “Chivalry,” Candy O’Neil is a strong young woman who has risen from one problem after another her entire life. Drugs have ruined her family, her brother steals money she earns from her job as a groom at Belmont Park, and now her best friend has been kidnapped and is presumed dead. Feeling she has no other choice, she escapes, hitchhiking out of New York to find a new life.

After an unsuccessful attempt at modeling, she goes back to grooming horses, this time at Pimlico in Baltimore. There, she meets a horse trainer who is strong, financially secure, knows what he wants, and can help her. This time it must be fate; she’s got the perfect job, the perfect man, the perfect life. Finally, she’s found what she’s always wanted – security. However, what she perceives as security slowly and methodically turns into insecurity, confusion, fear, and then abuse.

Follow Candy’s journey down the east coast as she finds herself, then loses everything. Again. How many times can she pull herself out of trouble before finally giving up?
